Welcome to Create A Snowman! 5th grade classes in South Central Kansas are using this site to connect with other classrooms, practice technical writing skills, and have some fun.

Directions for Participating

  1. Your students will create a snowman on the Drawz It web site. Tammy Worcester has written some directions for the site and that link follows How to Use Drawz It . Once they have created and saved their snowman, they will write the directions on how to create their snowman. Be sure each student puts their student ID on their directions. Save these directions as a .pdf.
  2. Each class will be partnered with another school class. As soon as I know class numbers, I will email you to let you know who your partner will be.
  3. Your class page link is on the left. Each class page will need a table with 4 columns. Column 1 is Student ID. You may use student name, initials, or other ID. Column 2 is where you will post the .pdf of the student directions. Column 3 will remain empty until column 4 has the recreated snowman uploaded.

  4. Once you know who you are partnered with, you can go in and print the directions. Pass out the directions to your students and have them recreate the original snowman according to the directions. Once they are finished, have them save the snowman and then you will upload it to column 4 of their student.
  5. Once the recreated snowman has been published for your students, upload the original snowman.

  6. When both snowmen are side by side you can compare them and discuss the likes and differences and decide why they might be different. You may want to have the original directions printed so the students can compare.

  7. We are hoping to complete this by the end of January.
  8. Let me know if you have questions or problems.
  9. Have fun!
